Soar Smart

The botanist who named the Catalpa tree named it for what he saw in its lovely flower. He knew that it was a native North American tree and combined in catalpa two Native American (Creek) words for “head” and “wings.”

Catalpa’s motto could be, “Soar; but soar smart.”
